About SLUS

The Sierra Leone Union in Sweden (SLUS) is a non-profit, non-political and inclusive community association established to unite Sierra Leoneans living in Sweden and promote their social, cultural and community development.

SLUS provides a common platform where Sierra Leoneans, their families, friends and partners can connect, support one another, preserve and celebrate Sierra Leonean culture, participate positively in Swedish society and contribute to stronger relations between the Sierra Leonean and Swedish communities.

We welcome people regardless of ethnicity, region, religion, gender, social background or political opinion.

The primary purpose of SLUS is to build a strong, united and sustainable Sierra Leonean community in Sweden while encouraging integration, participation and positive engagement within Swedish society.

We create opportunities for children, young people, women and families to participate in educational, cultural, recreational and community activities, and we serve as a bridge between Sierra Leoneans and Swedish society.

SLUS belongs to the entire Sierra Leonean community. We reject discrimination based on ethnicity, tribe, region, religion, gender, disability, political opinion or social background.

Our strength comes from our diversity and our ability to work together around common values and shared community interests.

Our long-term vision is to establish SLUS as a strong, trusted and sustainable Sierra Leonean community organisation in Sweden — expanding activities for children and young people, strengthening educational and professional programmes and building lasting partnerships with Swedish organisations.

While our primary activities are in Sweden, SLUS may also take part in humanitarian, educational and community-development initiatives that positively impact communities in Sierra Leone.
